NICPrep started as practice tests for one exam: the NIC national written exam that 29 states use. It did that job well, and then candidates in Texas, California, Tennessee, Nevada and Connecticut asked for the same thing built for their exam. So we built it — separate question banks for PSI National, Texas TDLR, Pearson VUE and the states that write their own, each from that exam's official outline, domain by domain.
Today the NIC exam is one of five exam families on the site. The old name described a fraction of what's here, and it made candidates in non-NIC states wonder whether the prep was for them. It is. The name should say so.

We are not affiliated with the National-Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology (NIC), and we never were. NICPrep was always an independent study company that built practice material from NIC's published candidate bulletins — the same way we build from PSI's, TDLR's and each state board's outlines. The new name removes any chance of confusion about that.
Lifetime access is lifetime access. Your login, your progress, your flashcard decks and your timed-exam history all carry over.
